Access to Scholarships

Union Plus Scholarship Program

Since 1992, the Union Plus Scholarship program has awarded more than $2.5 million to union members and their families who want to begin or continue their secondary education. Cash awards, ranging from $500 to $4,000, are granted to recipients based on academic achievement, potential, character, leadership, social awareness, career goals and financial need.

Applications are available each year beginning September 1st. Union members, spouses and dependent children are encouraged to apply. The deadline for submitting completed applications is January 31st. Union Privilege will send notification to winners on May 31st.

Union Plus National Labor College Scholarship

Do you want to earn your Bachelor of Arts degree while continuing your trade union work? Now you can have the best of both worlds. Eligible students attending the National Labor College in Silver Spring, MD, can apply for the Union Plus National Labor College Scholarship. Each year, $25,000 is awarded to eligible students attending the National Labor College. This unique program is sponsored by Union Privilege and administered by the George Meany Center for Labor Studies. How much money can I borrow for my education?

If eligible, you can borrow the full cost of your education, minus any other aid received. This includes the cost of tuition, fees, books, computers and technical instruments.

What kind of school can I attend with my loan?

You can use the loan to attend, full-time or part-time, any accredited college, university, trade, technical or professional school.

What are the loan interest rates?
